Department Description:
The Department of Physical Education is one of the pillars of University of Sulaimani. This department was established in the academic year 2000_2001 due to the university’s commitment to meeting the important needs of society in different fields. The department is important because it provides sports experts to society who can take responsibility in many areas of sports. This department believes that students are the most important pillar of the university, so it always pays attention to implementing its ideas and also participates in developing the professional skills needed to provide job opportunities for students both at home and abroad.
Department Vision:
The main vision of the department is to establish the department as a leader in physical fitness at the local and regional level and to produce highly skilled graduates who are prepared to excel in the physical education labor market. We are committed to staying up-to-date with the latest scientific research from around the world and providing exceptional training and teaching services with a strong emphasis on quality assurance.
Department Mission:
The main mission of the department is to introduce students to modern sports science and prepare them to play an effective role in this era of technology through teaching and providing various subjects related to sports science. After eight semesters of study (i.e., four years), students are awarded a bachelor’s degree in sports science to serve as sports experts in a scientific and skilled manner in society.
Learning Outcomes at Department:
The department makes every effort to prepare students for employment and adaptation in today’s world. Introduce students to education and sports sciences. Provide complete and necessary information on the principles of sports sciences. Guide students in planned, effective, and strategic management. Develop students’ abilities to identify and solve sports-related problems, and assist students in conducting scientific and academic research. This is done in order to prepare and provide a specialized and skilled graduate who can become an employer in various specialties such as teachers, coaches, sports management, sports injury specialists, and natural therapy specialists.
Department Study Methods:
The methods of study include theory, practice, and assessment is conducted through midterm exams and a final exam in both theory and practice.

The language of instruction in the department is Kurdish and Arabic.
Duration of Studies:
The duration of study in this department is four years, divided into eight semesters, full-time.
